CLOVIS, N.M. – Clovis police say they are looking for 59-year-old Jimmy Guillen. He is accused of starting the fire inside the Clovis Walmart last Sunday.
Officials say, through surveillance video, Guillen was seen carrying multiple propane canisters to the automotive department and was seen tampering with the cans before a fire quickly erupted.
Heather Mahan, the woman KOB 4 spoke to last week, shared how shocking it was to see the supercenter in flames.
“One of my friends called at four o’clock, little after and was like ‘Hey, it’s on fire,’ and I was like ‘Big fire or a little fire?’ They’re like ‘No, it’s a big one,’” said Heather Mahan, a Clovis delivery driver. “The whole thought of just what am I going to do? Like, this is my livelihood. It was really scary. That was scary.”
Mahan says that Walmart was essential for people in the area.
Officials say there are an estimated $42 million worth of damages.
Police say Guillen police is still on the loose. He is facing multiple charges including arson and tampering with evidence.
Officials say the investigation continues.
