RIO RANCHO, N.M. — In an effort to streamline communication, Rio Rancho Public Schools is changing its bus alert system. According to the district, parents were getting tired of receiving texts or phone calls that didn’t apply to them.
So, RRPS is launching a new system where parents can check for bus updates. Parents can now go to the district’s website and check on their children’s bus.
“If there is an emergency we will absolutely reach out with texts and calls, but as far as day-to-day status updates, go to the new system,” said Wyndham Kemsley, public information officer for RRPS.
Some parents who spoke with KOB 4 said they were concerned about safety and the public having access to bus information. District officials said they are aware of the concern, and the only information posted is the bus number and if it is on time.
