Alien Fire outside of Las Vegas: 25+ acres burned, 20% contained

Firefighters are battling a wildfire that has burned about 25 to 30 acres just west of Las Vegas, called the Alien Fire. The fire is 20% contained.
Officials say evacuations in the area have been lifted, as of Thursday night.
Crews are staying overnight to make sure the fire doesn’t spread.
Date/Time: The Alien Fire was discovered on Sept. 22 at 2:30 p.m. and is located on the Creston Ridge just west of Las Vegas. The fire is burning in timber and grass and is exhibiting crowning and torching behavior.
Resources: Crews are responding from Forestry Division, the US Forest Service, the City of Las Vegas and City of Santa Fe, San Miguel County, Cochiti Lake, and Angel Fire.

Evacuations: As of 8:45 p.m., all evacuations have been lifted. Previously, some residents close to the fire were told to evacuate to the Abe Montoya Recreation Center, which is still ready to take people in if needed.
Safety: Expect increased activity in the area and on local roads as firefighters and equipment move to new locations. Please stay out of the fire area to allow crews safe access to the fire.
