Suspect detained for bringing a gun to Eunice High School

EUNICE, N.M. — A suspect was detained for bringing a pistol to Eunice High School, prompting the school to go on lockdown Thursday morning.
Eunice police got a tip from a student about another student with a gun on campus around 10:08 a.m. Thursday.
The school was immediately placed on lockdown as officers secured the perimeter and began searching for the suspect. Police said they quickly found the suspect.
The suspect did have a pistol and was taken in for questioning by the Eunice Police Department.
The Eunice School District reports there have been no other threats and the lockdown was lifted.
