Tips from PNM on how to deter copper theft

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Copper theft is an ongoing nationwide affecting everyone and, already this year, PNM has received 51 business reports alone.

That’s why the utility company is branding September as Copper Theft Awareness Month. Throughout the month, they’ll alert all customers about copper theft, how to identify it, what they can do if they become a victim, how to report it and what steps to deter theft.

It’s very costly, too. Replacing copper can cost tens of thousands of dollars.
