UNM police: Person struck by BB gun near law school
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — UNM police say they’re looking for a suspect accused of shooting a person multiple times with a BB gun Tuesday near the law school.
A caller told campus police she was walking near the law school around 2:56 p.m. Tuesday when she was approached by a small SUV. The rear passenger pulled out a BB gun and shot multiple pellets toward her before fleeing southbound on Stanford.
The victim was struck but didn’t sustain any injuries.
Campus police are actively seeking suspects in the case and their whereabouts. If you have any info or see any type of suspicious activity, contact UNMPD at 505-277-2241.
Camille Carey, Dean and Professor of Law at UNM, issued the following note to the School of Law community:
“We are very concerned about this incident that occurred so close to the Law School. I spoke with the UNM Police Department (UNM PD). The victim is not affiliated with the Law School, and UNM PD informed me that the victim is fine. I asked that UNM PD immediately increase patrols around the Law School, and I was assured that they would do so. We believe that this was an isolated incident. Please remain aware of your surroundings.”
