Uptown Albuquerque murder suspect shot, injured by Arizona police
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An Uptown Albuquerque homicide suspect was shot Sunday by police in Arizona.
Kevin McKinney, 36, was shot by authorities who tracked him down to detain him Sunday in Arizona. McKinney was transported to a local hospital after the shooting. No officers were injured.
McKinney is accused of fatally shooting a man near an apartment complex on Indian School around 4 a.m. Saturday in Albuquerque. Albuquerque police identified McKinney and learned he was heading to Mesa, Arizona, prompting the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Marshals Service to be on alert.
McKinney is believed to have been involved in a multi-state crime spree where he stole a gun during a burglary. The gun was later used to kill the victim in Albuquerque.
