ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New video appears to show the chaos and violence that unfolded at a West Side house party late Friday night.
Albuquerque police say a 19-year-old was shot and killed in this incident, and four others were injured.
It happened outside a home on Estancia Drive, west of Coors.
Neighbors who live near the scene say it looked like a war zone outside their homes the morning after.
Video shows dozens of people fleeing for their lives while gunshots fire off in the background.
“It seemed like a war out here,” said a neighbor.
A man says a doorbell video shows the incident. Viewer video – shared online – also appears to show moments during the shooting.
“They just started scrambling, some were jumping into over my yard to hide behind the fence, and then they started running behind my trucks and trying to hide. I guess trying to prevent from getting shot,” said Mike, Albuquerque resident.
Residents were inside, fearful of what would happen next.
“Are they going to come back? Are they going to come around again? You just never know,” said a neighbor.
And the next morning, when neighbors did go outside, the aftermath of the scene was right outside their front door.
“I saw a couple of bullet casings, we couldn’t go very far because everything is taped off, but we did notify the police that they were there and they came down the streets,” a neighbor said. “And found more casings just further over, I know they marked over 10 just here on this street.”
And now residents say home doesn’t feel safe.
“Still fearful at night especially, you just don’t know anymore. Things have gotten so out of hand, just the behavior now of some people and again these young people with guns, it’s just a scary world to me.”
At this time, Albuquerque police say they cannot confirm that the video shared online is from the incident Friday night.
APD detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact police. Witnesses can upload videos related to the shooting to this link.
