Albuquerque police arrest suspect in deadly bus stabbing
Albuquerque police confirmed they are investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred Thursday morning on a city bus.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police confirmed they are investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred Thursday morning on a city bus.
Officers responded around 9 a.m. Thursday to reports of a stabbing in the area of Central and Coors. They arrived and found one person dead.
Police say the suspect is 19-year-old Charles Madrid. They say bus surveillance video shows Madrid and the victim getting into a fight onboard, and then Madrid stabbed the victim in the neck.
Police say Madrid walked to his school, told staff he was in a fight, and asked for a ride home.
They say the principal contacted officers after hearing about the stabbing, and they arrested Madrid at home.
Madrid will remain in jail until his trial.
