Police arrest man accused of killing friend after drinking alcohol
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police arrested a man accused of shooting and killing his friend Monday in southeast Albuquerque after drinking alcohol.
Adam Roberts, 30, is accused of shooting his friend late Monday morning in the parking lot of an apartment complex along Washington Street, just north of Zuni Road and where Lead and Coal Avenues meet.
Investigators said Roberts and some friends drank Sunday night into early Monday before falling asleep. They said the three of them woke up, drove to a site west of Albuquerque to shoot Roberts’ handgun and then bought more alcohol before returning to the apartment and drinking again.
According to investigators, Roberts pointed the gun at his friend, slid it and pulled the trigger. The gunshot struck his friend, killing him.
When police arrived, they allege they found Roberts with signs of intoxication.
Roberts is in jail on charges of murder and negligent use of a deadly weapon.
