BCSO: 3 arrested for double homicide in southwest Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Authorities arrested three suspects for a shooting that left two people dead in October in southwest Albuquerque.

On the night of Oct. 20, deputies responded to a shooting near Atrisco Drive and Rosendo Garcia Road and found Isaiah Montoya and Ernie Estrada dead.

Detectives said they collected evidence, executed search warrants, conducted interviews and identified multiple people they believe were involved in the incident.

Deputies obtained warrants for 43-year-old Israel Tijerina, 50-year-old Bernadette Armijo and 42-year-old Jay Kriling.

Last Wednesday, Feb. 19, deputies arrested Tijerina for murder. Over the next two days, they arrested Armijo and then Kriling, each on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Kriling also faces a charge of aggravated battery.

According to BCSO, the U.S. Marshal’s Service and agents with the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office helped make the arrests possible.
