BCSO launches new app to submit tips
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office just launched an anonymous tip system designed to report crime to law enforcement in seconds.
“When somebody takes a photo or updates it, they might get a license plate, they might get certain suspects, so it’s a lot of evidence that builds up and it actually makes the case stronger,” Sheriff John Allen said.
You can do that through texting 411 or downloading the tip411 app on your phone.
“What’s special about tip411, you can actually speak to possibly a deputy or detective live and go back and forth. That way that can be something that can be dispatched, and that we can be proactive about it. And if it is reactive, you can keep adding to the same call,” the sheriff said.
The tool isn’t for emergencies but it is to report a crime, like drug activity, weapon concerns and even traffic issues anonymously. BCSO believes this will help with their response times.
The sheriff adds this will help keep them more organized and make it clearer if they need to send the tip to a different law enforcement agency.
“We can get actual intel and photos and make sure we’re starting to match with law enforcement data bases, if were actually looking for a suspect and solve the case and actually have a solution for that caller,” he said.
The sheriff said you can also receive alerts on the tip411 app.
