Kira Miner: Morning Weather Forecast for New Mexico | Jan. 17, 2025
Friday started much warmer than Thursday so enjoy! See the latest conditions at KOB.com/Weather.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Cold weather is forecast for New Mexico next week as much of the state could see wind chills below zero.
The first cold front will drop through Saturday night, locking snow into northern New Mexico. Then, a second cold front will push in Sunday into Monday and bring more widespread snow to our state.
Northern and eastern New Mexico was expected to get the brunt of the snow with the second cold front. Now, the forecast is shifting that eastward, sparing places like Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Raton, Clayton, Las Vegas, Tucumcari and Clovis could now see snow by Tuesday morning.
The wind chills will be the big story. Come Tuesday morning, wind chills won’t climb above 9° pretty much anywhere in the state. Many places in and around northern and central New Mexico will see below-zero wind chills, including:
Albuquerque: -3°
Santa Fe: -10°
Grants: -13°
Las Vegas: -13°
Taos: -17°
Trinidad, Colorado: -23°
Even a northerner knows that is cold weather, so keep yourself bundled up and remember the Ps – people, pets, pipes and plants – to keep them safe during this cold spell.
