APD: 1 dead, 1 wounded in shooting near apartment complex

One person is dead and another person is in the hospital after an overnight shooting near an apartment complex in northeast Albuquerque.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Detectives are investigating a shooting that left one person dead and another person wounded overnight in northeast Albuquerque.

According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the shooting happened early Wednesday, just after midnight, near The Ridge apartment complex. The area is south of Tramway Boulevard and Copper Avenue.

Just a few blocks away, at Copper and San Jacinto Avenue, detectives say they found a person with at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics took that person to the hospital. They later died from their injuries.

According to APD, a second shooting victim showed up at another hospital with gunshot wounds. They say the wounds appear to be non-life-threatening.

Officers said they responded to another location in the North Valley. They believe it may be connected to people involved in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
