CARLSBAD, N.M. — A 4.6-magnitude earthquake sent ripples that could be felt Tuesday morning in New Mexico, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported the epicenter is about 30 miles south of the entrance of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. They reported the earthquake Tuesday at around 5:16 a.m.

Before the 4.6-magnitude quake, the USGS reported quakes of magnitudes 2.5 and 3.4 at around 2:40 a.m. and 1:58 a.m. Tuesday – and a 2.9-magnitude quake at around 7 p.m. Monday.

This isn’t the first time an earthquake has been reported in New Mexico. Last year, the USGS reported two earthquakes just west of Albuquerque.
