Governor announces major tech hub for Santa Teresa

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced a partnership with tech company, Borderplex Digital Assets.

SANTA FE, N.M. — Gov. Michelle Luján Grisham announced some big development plans for southern New Mexico.

It’s a partnership with tech company, BorderPlex Digital, that will bring thousands of jobs to the Santa Teresa area, near El Paso.

The governor says the complex will include advanced manufacturing, logistics and data center facilities. The groundbreaking is expected later this year.

Regarding tariffs President Donald Trump is putting on Mexico, the governor said she is confident this tech hub can ride it out for the long-term.

“Our goal is to create as many of the stability factors here, so as soon as the door opens in a productive way again, we’re ahead of the game,” the governor said.

According to the governor, the area can expect $5 billion in construction spending in the next decade. There are plans for a water desalination project in Santa Teresa. That project will tap into underground brackish water to sustain the state’s water supply.
