ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Students in rural areas of four New Mexico counties will soon get better access to high-speed internet.
The New Mexico state government awarded more than $5 million in grants to two internet providers and a nonprofit to make it happen. The money will go toward connecting homes in Luna County, Socorro County, Rio Arriba County and Santa Fe County.
The New Mexico Legislature created a program called “Student Connect” last year. It provides three years of free internet to students and school staff in the program.
