Major gas leak displaces 112 people in South Valley

BERNALILLO COUNTY, N.M. — More than a hundred South Valley seniors are waking up in a hotel after a gas leak forced them away from where they live.
According to Bernalillo County, a gas leak at the El Centro senior housing complex caused 112 people to evacuate and move to a local hotel, where they will stay for at least a week. El Centro is home to income-qualifying people over 55 years old and people with disabilities.
New Mexico Gas Company is still trying to figure out what caused the gas leak. According to the county, it has been an issue for some time and repairs could take a while.
