Major project underway at busy intersection in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Part of Paseo del Norte will be down to two lanes for two months due to a major project at a busy intersection in Albuquerque.

Construction is underway on a new traffic signal and other major improvements to the intersection of Paseo del Norte and Tramway Boulevard.

The first phase of this project began Monday and will last around two months. During that time, only two lanes of Paseo del Norte – one eastbound and one westbound – will be open at the intersection.

Crews will also add pedestrian access ramps and modify some turn movements from Paseo Del Norte to Tramway – and from Tramway to Paseo Del Norte – to improve safety.

The overall project will wrap up in late-August or early-September.
