Man arrested for murder, tied to separate alleged double murder

RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, N.M. — A man, linked to the alleged killing of two Taos women, is behind bars for allegedly killing a man near Española.
Taos County Sheriff’s deputies responded Monday evening to a welfare check at a mobile home on the north side of Taos. When they arrived and went inside, they found two women dead with multiple gunshot wounds.
Deputies identified the women as 34-year-old Ashley Casias and 39-year-old Anastasia “Stacy” Romo.
Not long after that, the Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office called them about a person in Española who they believed was in possession of a vehicle belonging to one of the women who died.
Deputies identified the person as 27-year-old Cesar Garcia, of Taos. Garcia faces a first-degree murder charge in Rio Arriba County for allegedly getting into a fight and killing someone Monday.
