New Mexico State Police officer recognized for saving newborn baby
A New Mexico State Police officer is being recognized for saving the life of a newborn baby boy in July 2023.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A New Mexico State Police officer is being recognized for saving the life of a newborn baby boy in July 2023.
According to New Mexico State Police, officer Ismael Perez responded to an emergency call about a mother in distress. However, when they arrived at the hospital, the baby wasn’t responsive and was still attached to the umbilical cord.
Perez began life-saving measures until the baby began crying. After tending to the baby, hospital had good news for the mother – she gave birth to a health baby boy.
For his actions, Perez is a nominee for the 2025 Axon RISE Award. Now through Jan. 27, you can vote once a day for him here at this link. After voting closes, a panel of judges will review the top 10 vote-getters in each category and select the winners in February.
