Driver accused of crashing into train while running from police

Police in Clovis are looking for a driver who they accuse of crashing into a train while running from police.

CLOVIS, N.M. — The Clovis Police Department is looking for a person accused of not pulling over and then running away from the scene of a train crashing into their vehicle.

An officer tried to pull over a black SUV late Wednesday night near Prince and McDonald streets, close to the Curry County Fairgrounds. Officers didn’t pursue the vehicle – instead setting up a perimeter when they noticed a person running from a nearby wooded area.

However, they didn’t find that person.

Moments later, officers said they received a call about a train crashing into an SUV near the Norris Street crossing. Employees with BNSF told them the vehicle was stuck on the median when the train hit it.

Officers didn’t find anybody inside of the SUV. They confirmed it was the SUV they tried pulling over.

If you know anything, call the Clovis Police Department at 575-769-1921.
