ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A new study is recommending several changes to Interstate 40 between Albuquerque and the New Mexico-Arizona state line.
The New Mexico Department of Transportation recently released the results of an extensive survey of that area. Among their findings is that I-40 will need to be expanded to three lanes in Gallup. They also call for it in several areas with steep grades.
The study also recommends expanding the shoulder to alleviate backups. It also recommends replacing some bridges and fixing some ramps.
