BNSF confirms 8 train cars derailed south of Albuquerque

BOSQUE, N.M. — BNSF confirmed eight cars, carrying mixed freight, derailed Thursday morning south of Albuquerque.
According to BNSF, the derailment happened Thursday at around 8:40 a.m. It prompted a mutual aid call, involving the Valencia County Fire Department, to the 400 block of Highway 116 in Bosque.
BNSF reported no injuries in the incident. VCFD reported there were no hazards to the public but advised people to avoid the area.
BNSF is investigating the cause of the incident.
