Water boil advisory issued for Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, N.M. — The City of Las Vegas, New Mexico, is advising people to boil their water before consuming it due to ongoing low pressure and an outage.
Although there hasn’t been any contamination detected, the city is advising you boil your water before you use it, such as for drinking, cooking and washing fruits and vegetables.
Officials are distributing non-potable water at Old Memorial Middle School until dusk. Distribution will resume 9 a.m. Tuesday. You must bring your own containers. Non-potable water is not safe for human consumption but can be used for flushing toilets and cleaning.
Officials are also giving out packed water at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center until supplies run out. Distribution will begin again Tuesday at 9 a.m. Home delivery of water is also available for those with critical care needs, call 505-454-1401 for more information.
The Mora County Sheriff’s Office and the Mora school district is extending help to residents of Las Vegas. Sheriff Americk G. Padilla issued this statement on social media:
“The Mora County Sheriff’s Office along with the Mora Independent School district would like to open our doors to anyone in Las Vegas who may need a hot shower. We will be utilizing the Mora school recreation center from 1pm to 6pm today (Monday).
