La Cueva alum Pineda drafted by Royals

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Former La Cueva High School star Jack Pineda, who planned on transferring from Baylor to LSU, was selected Tuesday by the Kansas City Royals in the 12th round of the MLB draft.

Pineda says he is leaning toward signing with the Royals.

Last season, Pineda hit .327 with four home runs and led the Bears in doubles with 16.
